At the presentation of the police at Social Media Week Rotterdam no PowerPoint or Prezi, but a unique, interactive website with videos, media and a cool time-lapse of Rotterdam. It is clear: the eye wants something too.
Yet, in the end, it’s all about the content. More than five years ago, Arnoud Grootenboer and his colleague Wilco Berenschot started actively tweeting. Within no time, it was booming, and both gentlemen gained a large following.
New audience, new work
They soon noticed that they were reaching a different audience and collecting different information via uruguay phone number library social media than they did behind their desks. This also changed their own work. Grootenboer: “Thanks to social media, we got much closer to the citizens. We learned more about their lives and what was happening in the neighbourhood. People really appreciated being able to see what we were doing and where we were present. We were really surprised that people responded so enthusiastically. As a police officer, you are suddenly likeable. We were not used to that at all!”

Looking for the limits
Because Grotenboer and Berenschot were the police pioneers when it came to social media what is rhetorical style? , they knew that there were no set guidelines yet. In the beginning, twittering and Facebooking were mainly an experiment.
Every week, and in the beginning even every day, they came across cases where they had to china numbers search for the ethical, but also the legal boundaries. What can you put on social media and what not? For example, can you tweet from the crime scene if it later turns out that the victim died in the hospital? What do you do with threatening tweets? And what do you do if you don’t have any nice information to report?
